Siwa

A remote desert oasis and a total break from anything students know.

Why Siwa

Siwa is roughly eight hours from Cairo by road, and it's meant to feel like it — a self-contained oasis town with its own language, architecture, and rhythm, wrapped by the Great Sand Sea. Days mix service work with a local Siwan community partner — a school, a women's craft cooperative, or a project tied to the oasis's salt lakes — with desert time: dune bashing, sandboarding, and a night camping under some of the darkest skies in Egypt. Students visit the Shali Fortress ruins and swim in Cleopatra's Spring. For most students this is the most disconnected stop on the itinerary, in the best sense — no familiar landmarks, patchy signal in parts of the desert, just the group and the place.
