Step Out, Safely

This is the full detail behind the trust we ask parents and schools to place in us.

Risk Assessment Overview

Every Impact OG trip starts with a written risk assessment before a single seat is booked — not an afterthought once the itinerary's already set.

We look at accommodation standards, transport, planned activities, and every excursion site on the route, then build the trip around what we find. Each destination's risk assessment is reviewed internally by the Program Director before every trip and refreshed whenever a route, partner, or activity changes — not left to go stale between seasons. The result is a plan built for what could go wrong, not just what's supposed to go right.

Staff Safety Expertise

Every staff member on an Impact OG trip is trained for more than showing students around.

Every staff member holds current First Aid and CPR certification, renewed on a regular cycle rather than a one-time box to check. Staff carry a First Aid kit and a written risk assessment for every location and activity on the trip, and are trained in crisis management, evacuation procedures, and supervising a group of teenagers who don't yet know each other. Staff-to-student ratio is 1:7 for ages 12–13 and 1:10 for ages 14–18 — a ratio that holds overnight as well as on-site, with a staff member assigned to cover every leg of off-site travel.

Child Protection & Safeguarding

Safeguarding isn't a policy kept in a drawer — it's built into how every trip runs day to day.

Supervision ratios hold at all times, staff follow a written code of conduct covering behavior and boundaries with students, and every staff member is trained to recognize and respond to safeguarding concerns before they escalate. Parents get a same-day update — photos and a short recap, sent through a private group channel set up before departure — so they know how the day went, and every trip keeps documented records in case anything needs to be revisited later.
